Born in Nairobi, Kenya, he became an atheist in his early teens after reading about the theory of evolution. Other books written by Richard Dawkins include The Selfish Gene, River Out Of Eden, The Extended Phenotype, The Blind Watchmaker, Unweaving the Rainbow, and The God Delusion. He studied biology in Oxford University. He worked as an assistant professor of zoology in the University of California, Berkeley, before shifting back to Oxford, where he was appointed as the Simonyi Professor of the Public Understanding of Science. He is the author of several books and has also been involved in making many documentaries. He also set up the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.  David McKean has illustrated many books, including Coraline, The Graveyard Book, Cages, and The Wolves in the Walls.
