A young boy discovers a gateway into a magical world, the world of Narnia, in C. S. Lewis’ The Magician’s Nephew. Summary of the Book Young Digory and Polly are tricked by the former’s Uncle Andrew into becoming part of a strange experiment. Andrew’s magic ring teleports them to the Wood between the Worlds, a magic passageway that allows them to travel to parallel realms. They enter one of the pools and meet the evil Queen Jadis. As they escape from her, they find their way into another, more wonderful world: the world of Narnia. There they meet the great Aslan, the Lord of Narnia. Aslan is a giant lion, and he is wiser than anyone they have met. However, the children have not come alone to Narnia. They have brought along the evil White Witch, the Queen Jadis. And she seeks to take over the world for her own purposes. About C. S. Lewis Clive Staples “C. S.” Lewis was an English novelist, lay theologian and literary critic. He is best remembered for The Chronicles of Narnia series of novels. Lewis was a close and personal friend of fellow writer J. R. R. Tolkien.
