The first scholarly publication to deal with the question surrounding the true motive of assassin, Nathuram Godse, in the murderer of Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. Elst compares Godse's case against Gandhi along with criticisms voiced from wider political circles, a truth that has been suppressed until now, including relevant historical data known at the time or recently brought to light since. Gandhi, the man exalted by Hindu masses following his murder, had considerably less ardent political support from India's divergent political leaders at the time of his death.
