The Master and Margarita is a novel about the nature of good and evil. The novel was one of the greatest achievements of Mikhail Bulgakov. Summary of the Book The story revolves around the Devil’s visit to the aesthetic Soviet Union. It was written during the worst times of the Stalin regime and merges two parts set in ancient Jerusalem and contemporary Moscow. The satire includes vampires attacks and a satanic ball. It also gives readers a view of the reality of Moscow during the time. The book combines fantasy with realism and is Mikhail Bulgakov’s best work. About Mikhail Bulgakov Mikhail Bulgakov is best known for his novel, The Master and Margarita, which is considered to be one of the masterpieces of the twentieth century. He was a writer and playwright from Russia whose work was most published during the first half of the twentieth century. He started his career as a Doctor, but left it to become a writer. Future Perspectives was his first book and it was written and published in the same year. He has also written several play between 1922 and 1926. Some of his works include: The White Guard, Great Soviet Short Stories, Black Snow: A Theatrical Novel and Heart of a Dog.
