The story features the character of Hercule Poirot, who is called in to investigate the disappearance of a wealthy banker named Mr. Davenheim. Davenheim has vanished without a trace on the day he was supposed to make an important financial transaction, and Poirot is brought in to find out what has happened to him.As Poirot investigates, he discovers a web of lies and deception that includes a missing will, a cleverly executed bank robbery, and a cast of suspects with hidden motives.
