Modernist poetry, in its fragmented form, continues to intrigue readers. In this sequel to A Flowering Word (Peter Lang, 2000), Noriko Takeda clarifies the modernist schism's meaningful role as a productive furnace for both interpretive humanness and its own solid concretization. The discussed main works are Stephane Mallarme's Herodiade, T. S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and shorter poems in foregrounded lyricality by these two writers.
