The Museum of Innocence is a story of a man’s obsessive love, set in the period 1975 to 1984 in Istanbul. Summary of the Book Kemal belongs to an aristocratic family. About Orhan Pamuk Orhan Pamuk is a Nobel Prize winning Turkish author, who was born in Istanbul in 1952. Most of his works often revolve around life in the city of Istanbul and generally explore a theme of lost identity and the conflicts between the Western and the Eastern lifestyles. He has won several awards for his literary works, including the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2006, the first time it was awarded to a Turk. He is currently a Professor at Columbia University, teaching comparative literature and writing. Some of Orhan Pamuk’s other notable works are The Black Book, Silent House, The White Castle, The Naive and the Sentimental Novelist, and My Name is Red.
