Mystic Masseur is the story of a writer who rises to be a successful politician by flaunting himself as a masseur who has the ability to cure illnesses. Summary of the Book Ganesh started off as a primary school teacher and failed at it. He then went on to be a struggling masseur and then an author. This book is a hilarious and amusing journey of how Ganesh went on to be a mystic masseur and achieved great success. The book is set in Colonial Trinidad and has other interesting characters like Ramlogan, Ganesh’s father-in-law, who wants to gain some of Ganesh’s success by getting his daughter married to him. Ganesh’s wife, Leela, punctuates after every word and Ganesh’s relative is a man who belches and burps continuously. This book is highly recommended for anyone who wants a good laugh. The author, V. S. Naipaul, amuses you with the funny English spoken by the people in Trinidad and the comical people. About V. S. Naipaul V. S. Naipaul is a Nobel Prize-winning British writer who was born in Trinidad. He is of Indian heritage and is known for his comic early novels that were set in Trinidad. He has published over 30 books, both fiction and non-fiction.
