The setting was his childhood vacations in Michigan, when he remembered himself as Nick Adams. The nowfamous "Nick Adams" stories depict a memorable figure developing from a toddler to an adolescent to a soldier, veteran, writer, and parent, in a timeline that closely resembles Hemingway's life.Nick Adams emerges as the first in a long line of Hemingway's fictitious identities in this arrangement. Later versions were to have a bit of Nick's and, by extension, Hemingway's background behind them. For lovers of the legendary novelist, this is a musthave.
