About the Book The year is 1947. Does this year ring a bell? It was the year when the partition of India took place. Veera Hiranandani’s, The Night Diary, tells us the story of twelve-year-old Nisha, a half-Hindu, a half-Muslim girl whose identity remains just as broken as the partition. When her father feels Pakistan is too dangerous, they decide to become refugees. Through this journey, we uncover Nisha’s love for her homeland, her identity, and her hopefulness about a better future.
