The Palisades Cookbook (1910) is an early twentieth century publication, containing recipes for numerous traditional dishes. Summary Of The Book The Palisades Cookbook has been republished as a cultural treasure, which was recovered from the the available copies of the old publication.. This cookbook contains recipes for many dishes that were once part of traditional meals. The Palisades Cookbook starts with soups and entrees, then proceeds on to meat and fish and vegetables, pickles, pies, cakes, and more. Salads, breads, puddings, sauces, ice creams, custards, cakes, cookies, pies, sandwiches, egg-based dishes, cheese-based dishes, pickles - recipes are given for all these and many more. It has a confectionery section with recipes for preparing delicious sweets and candies. The book lists steps for canning and preserving different food items. It even contains a section that provides different menus for each meal of the day. At the end, a kitchen time table section is included, which gives the required cooking time for many types of dishes. A ‘Hints’ section provides tips to make cooking easier and the dishes more tasty. About The Authors The Palisades Cookbook was a joint effort of the members of the Ladies’ Aid Society of the Tenafly Presbyterian Church, and it was first published in 1910. This book has recently been reprinted. There is not much difference in the presentation style and language of The Palisades Cookbook and contemporary cookbooks, even though it was first published in the early twentieth century.
