This book elucidates the status of Women as described in the Vedic, and other texts such as the Samhitas, the Brahmanas, Aranykas, the Upnishads, the Purans, Smrtis, etc. The book deals with the subject viewing a woman in her various roles : as a daughter, as a wife, and as a widow. Many rituals are described, some along with the supporting verses in Sanskrit, and the author strives to prove that the Woman was an equal, and sometimes the superior partner in the observance of the various rituals and sacrifices prescribed by the religious texts. This book is a reprint of the 1956 edition.
