Frank and Cora want to carry out their romantic plans for a happily ever after. However, they need to get rid of Cora’s husband, Nick Papadakis, if they want to consider taking their romance to the next level. Summary of the Book The story is narrated by Frank Chambers, initially a drifter. He gets himself a job at a diner owned by the beautiful Cora and her older husband, Nick. The attraction between Cora and Frank is inevitable and the two have a steamy affair that is sadomasochistic in nature. Cora is desperate to get out of her marriage, but wants to keep the diner. She and her lover, Frank, decide that they will kill Nick, but will ensure that the diner does not go out of Cora’s hands. They try killing him with an unexpected blow on the head, but Nick escapes with a few injuries and amnesia. The second time, Cora and Frank make sure that the deed is done for good. However, the local prosecutor is suspicious and decides to get some proof about what happened without the knowledge of Frank and Cora. Will the two lovers get away with their nasty crime?
