Summary Of The Book The Princess Diaries is about how the life of a regular student changed overnight and how she dealt with the changes. Mia Thermopolis is just another average ninth-grader, who has a huge crush on one of her seniors, Josh Richter, and has trouble with algebra. Living in Greenwich Village along with her single mom, who is quite famous for her paintings, she becomes aware of certain things about her father. During her father’s visit, she is enlightened by the fact that he’s actually a prince of a small country, named Genovia. Being the only heir to the throne, Mia Thermopolis, comes to know that she’s actually the crown princess of Genovia. Being just an average city girl, she gets terrified upon hearing this news, and examines herself to find that she’s not princess-material. To add to her troubles, news reporters’ start stalking her at school. In addition to that, Mia’s algebra teacher is dating her mom. She has a burst-up with her best friend Lily, due to her popularity at school, which causes them to distance themselves from one-another. In the meantime, Mia begins to learn the act of conducting herself as a princess in her hotel room, and she begins to get better by the day. She also makes good friends with Tina, whose father is extremely protective of her, to the point that she is always surrounded with bodyguards. The storyline of The Princess Diaries has also been adapted into a movie, directed by Garry Marshall, and starring Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis. During its prime, this movie reached the 3rd position in the box office, being released on the 3rd of August 2001. About Meg Cabot Meg Cabot is a renowned author, hailing from Bloomington, Indiana, United States. Apart from this book, Cabot has written some 50 odd books, with over 15 million copies in print worldwide. Some of the books written by the author include Ready Or Not: An All-American Girl Novel, Pants On Fire!Tommy Sullivan Is A Freak, and Allie Finkle’s Rules For Girls series. Born on the 1st of February, 1967, Cabot has written several novels under different pen names- Meggin Cabot, Patricia Cabot, and Jenny Carroll. She completed her graduation degree from Indiana University. Desiring to become an illustrator, she relocated to New York City. However, she left the job in the year 1991, and served as the Assistant in-charge at New York University, in the freshman dormitory. Apart from writing books, the author has also written several short stories, and one script, which was for the early versions of the movie Ice Princess by Walt Disney. She got married to Benjamin D.
