About Daniel Yergin Daniel Yergin is a well-known American economic researcher and energy expert. He has written a number of books on energy related issues including The Prize for which he received the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. He has also written Gasoline And The American People, The Quest: Energy, Security, And The Remaking Of The Modern World, and The Dependence Dilemma (Harvard Studies in International Affairs 43): Gasoline Consumption and America's Security. He also writes frequently for leading news publications, including Wall Street Journal and Financial Times. Yergin was born in 1947 in Los Angeles, California. He did his B.A. from Yale University and completed his Ph.D. in International Relations from Cambridge University. He founded Cambridge Energy Research Associates, a consultancy specializing on issues related to energy, which was later acquired by IHS Inc. Yergin went on to become the Vice Chairman of IHS.
