The Railway Man chronicles the experience of Eric Lomax as a prisoner of war during World War II. Summary The book is an autobiographical novel by Eric Lomax. It is about the author’s experiences as a prisoner of war during World War II. He writes about how he was forced to work on the notorious Burma-Siam railway for the Japanese military. The author further mentions the way he was horribly and cruelly tortured, which left him psychologically damaged. He was left emotionally scarred until he revived with the help of his wife Patti and the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture. He eventually came to terms with what had happened and travels to Japan to meet his tormentors many years later. About Eric Lomax Eric Sutherland Lomax was a British Army officer who was sent to a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp after the World War II in 1942.
