Summary Of The Book The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King, set in the years 3019 to 3021, begins with Pippin and Gandalf travelling to Minas Tirith. The next day, Aragorn battles against the Dunedain, and Theoden moves out of the Hornburg fortress and goes to Harrowdale. Aragorn is victorious in the battle and goes to Dunharrow. A video game adaptation of the book is also available. About J. R. R. Tolkien John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was an English professor, philologist, poet and writer. His famous works include The Hobbit, The Fall of Arthur, Unfinished Tales and The History of Middle-earth, The Silmarillion, The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrún, Mr. Bliss, Roverandom, and Farmer Giles of Ham. His writing is chiefly influenced by the British adventure works, and the mythological traditions of the Welsh and Norse cultures. Catholic imagery and theology can also be found in his works. The ‘Father of Modern Fantasy Literature’ was born in the year 1892, in Bloemfontein, Orange Free State. Tolkien studied at the King Edward’s School in Birmingham, and received his degree from Exeter College, Oxford. He was the Reader at the University of Leeds and also taught at Pembroke College at Oxford. His name was included by The Times in “The 50 Greatest British Writers Since 1945”. A devout Roman Catholic, he married his childhood sweetheart, Edith Mary Bratt in 1916. He died at the age of 81 in England.
