The story of Morpheus, lord of the world of Dreams continues in The Doll's House, the second volume of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman series of graphic novels. Summary of the Book Love long lost is a dream unfulfilled. But Dream too has a love unfulfilled, and long lost. Dream is caught in a plot between his androgynous siblings, the twins Desire and Despair, who scheme to exploit a dream vortex against Dream. Meanwhile on Earth, the effects of Dream's imprisonment still continue to hold sway over the mortals. Unity Kinkaid was raped in her sleep when she was a victim of the sleeping sickness, and she gave birth to a daughter she has never known: Miranda. Miranda journeys to England with her own daughter Rose so that Unity can meet them before she dies. However, Rose wishes to find her brother Jed to tell him the news about their long lost grandmother. Meanwhile, Dream discovers that four of his minions have disappeared and sets out to find them. Brute and Glob, two of Dream's creations, have found their way to Earth and are hiding in Jed's mind. The poor boy is being exploited for the state-given allowance his new caretakers have grown fond of, and no one can hear his screams. Except the lord of the dreamworld, and he is particularly in no mood to be played around with. Something macabre is going on in the background, and Dream doesn't like what he senses, especially since it reeks of a plot he finds annoyingly like something his siblings might have hatched.
