C. S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters is a collection of satirical letters from a senior devil to a junior devil. Summary of the Book In this book, a senior “tempter”, a devil named Screwtape, writes to his nephew, Wormwood. Screwtape instructs Wormwood in the ways of forcing a Christian to stray from the path of a true believer. Screwtape writes about subtle forms of sins - vanity, pride, distraction, insincerity, and forgetting God, teaching Wormwood about succeeding in the paths of devilry through guile and ingenuity. This book teaches Christians about the numerous ways in which they can stray from the path, and how to find their way back. About C. S. Lewis Clive Staples “C. S.” Lewis was an English novelist, lay theologian and literary critic. He is best remembered for The Chronicles of Narnia series of novels. Lewis was a close and personal friend of fellow writer J. R. R. Tolkien.
