The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is young-adult novel penned down by bestselling author, Ann Brashares. It follows the adventure of four best friends and how a magical pair of old jeans turns their summer upside down. Summary of the Book Carmen buys a well-worn pair of soft jeans at a thrift-shop, which becomes an unexpected bond to hold the four best friends together. The pants don’t look great – they were dirty, worn-out and speckled with bleach. On the night before Carmen and her friends were parting for the summer, she decides to chuck the pants away. Tibby loves them and decides to try them on and it fits her perfectly. Soon all four of them try the pants and despite their vastly different body proportions, the magical pair of jeans fit each of them like a dream! Hence, the girls decide to take a vow of the Sisterhood of Traveling Pants. They vow to circulate the pants among themselves throughout the vacation, passing it from one friend to another when the time was right. And then begins the journey of the magical pants and the most unforgettable summer of their lives. About Ann Brashares Ann Brashares is an American author of young-adult fiction. She is best known for writing the The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. She studied philosophy at Barnard College after which she worked as an editor for 17th Street Productions.
