Some of his other books are In Search of the Trojan War, In Search of England: Journeys Into the English Past, and The Smile of Murugan: A South Indian Journey. Michael Wood was born in Manchester, England in 1948. He studied at Oriel College, Oxford, majoring in History and English. He later opted for a career in the television industry. He worked for the BBC, first as a reporter. He later became a producer. Besides writing books on historical,subjects, he has also produced and presented many television shows like Great Railway Journeys, In search of Myths and Heroes and Darshan: An Indian Journey.
