Alexandre Dumas, the most widely read French author of the 19th century, is known for his historical novels. One such is the Three Musketeers, which is popular as a romantic, historical, adventurous novel. Three Musketeers is typical of Dumas' works with its quick- witted hero and engaging dialogues.Drawing its source from a number of historical books and emoirs like that of Monsieur d'Artagnon, the story unravels e adventures of D'Artagnan in his pursuit to become a usketeer. He becomes a lieutenant and befriends the three usketeers - Porthos, Athos, and Aramis , and even falls in ye with Constance Bonacieux. Whether he suCceeded in is pursuit, and with what price, forms the rest of the story. With a blend of romance and adventure through its urse, the novel in fact brings history alive. This indeed has ade it the most engaging and entertaining piece of literature, ighly accessible even for the modern readers.
