H. G. Wells tells the story of all time in the classic science fiction novel, The Time Machine. Summary of the Book A scientist invites his peers over to his house for lunch, only to declare that he has made an astounding discovery. He shows them a strange invention that he claims can travel through time. He actuates the machine which disappears. He then announces that it will reappear the follow week. The next week, the other scientists assemble in his house once again, and, just as he claimed, the machine reappears on cue. What the other men do not realize is that the scientist has larger plans for this prototype. He has already set about creating a larger version, one that will allow him to travel in time with the machine. With it, he seeks to explore the abyss of time. However, what will he discover there? More importantly, can he ever return to his own time? About H. G. Wells Herbert George "H. G." Wells was a British writer, considered the Father of the Science-Fiction genre. He is best remembered for The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man and The Island of Doctor Moreau. This book has been adapted several times into hit movies and TV series.
