The Unfinished Memoirs is the autobiography of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was the first President of Bangladesh during the Bangladesh Liberation War, who later became the Prime Minister of independent Bangladesh. Summary of the Book Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started penning his autobiography in his notebooks during his time in jail, between 1967 and 1969. The notebooks were retrieved in the year 2004. This memoir recollects his days as a student activist and his days both in and out of prison. Rahman also recounts several events before and after the partition of India, along with the Bengali language movement. The book also brings out Rahman’s views on several leaders of the time, including Gandhi, Jinnah, Fazlul Haq, Maulana Bhashani, and Muhammad Ali Bogra among others. About Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born in 1920. He completed his education at the University of Calcutta and later at the University of Dhaka. One of the founders of the Awami League, Rahman led his party to a historic victory in the election of 1970, a crucial event in the emergence of Bangladesh. He was assassinated in Dhaka in August, 1975, during a military coup d'état.
