He went on to obtain a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and completed a second doctorate in business administration at Duke University. A former faculty member at MIT, he also served as the James B. Duke Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Economics and the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Behavioral Economics at MIT Sloan School of Management.
