This book will give you a different take on Valmiki’s Ramayana. While most of us are in awe of the main characters, some of them whose stories have been ignored are brought to the forefront in this book. Read this tale of Angadan and the injustice done to him and others. Summary of the Book We all know the story of the Ramayana as it is popularly told. However, we choose to ignore a lot of loopholes in the story and the injustice caused to a lot of characters who suffered because of Raman’s choices. The Vigil tells the story of Angadan, the young man who believes that his father, Vali, was killed against the principles of dharma. The young prince, unlike most of us, always notices the wrong decisions that are made by Raman and insists that they are not fair, especially setting fire to Lanka in order to save Sita. While he is doing everything he can to seek revenge, he is rescued from carrying out any act by Sita, the woman who is believed to have suffered plenty of injustice because of Raman. The Vigil gives you Valmiki’s poem in a way that it has not been interpreted before. About Sarah Joseph Sarah Joseph is a novelist and short story writer who writes in Malayalam.
