The War with Grandpa is the story of a 10 year old boy named Peter Stokes. After his grandmother’s demise, Peter’s grandfather is coming to live with his family. Peter is thrilled because he loves his grandfather a lot. But when he discovers that his grandfather is going to take his room, he finds it unfair. The only way Peter can think of recovering his room is by declaring war on grandpa. The book won many awards like Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award, Tennessee Children's Choice Book Award, South Carolina Children's Book Award, Mark Twain Award, and William Allen White Award. Robert Kimmel Smith started his writing career in 1970 at the age of 30, after leaving his advertising business.
