The Way of Kings (Part - 2) is the second part of a huge first volume in a planned ten volume fantasy series. Summary Of The Book As The Way Of Kings (Part - 2) opens, humans have been cast out of heaven, not by God, but by a race called the Voidbringers. In fact, God has also been sent out of heaven along with the humans. All of them have been forced to take refuge in Roshar, a world that is ravaged by constant storms. After casting them out from heaven, the Voidbringers pursue them into Roshar and persecute them. It remains to be seen if the humans will be driven off once again. The tale then switches to current times. The world of Roshar faces new problems besides the ever present storms. The King of Alethkar has been murdered and that sets up the premise for a confrontation. The Alethi suspect that the outcast Parshendi tribesmen are behind the murder of their king. Without pausing to confirm their doubts, they begin to prepare for war. The army is led by the brother of the murdered king, Dalina, who decides to lay siege to the stronghold of the Parshendi. A bridge has to be built to help the army cross a fiery chasm, and a prisoner of war, Kaladin, is among those chosen to build the bridge. He has his own demons to confront, but he manages to bring together the bridge-builders in a cohesive and well-organized team. Meanwhile, a young woman named Shallan goes in search of a heretic teacher who refuses to take on new pupils. But Shallan is strong-willed and does not easily give up. It is not just the thirst for knowledge that motivates her. She has another ulterior purpose. The plot slowly brings together all these characters and many others, interweaving their stories. The book, The Way of Kings, has been split into two parts because of its huge size. This edition is the second part. Meanwhile, the first part slowly builds up the backstory of the humans, telling the story of the Heralds and the Voidbringers. It also describes the world of Roshar and slowly introduces the characters. About Brandon Sanderson Brandon Sanderson is an American author.
