Gerald Corey’s Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy is a comprehensive book on various therapeutic models expressed in couseling theories. Students are introduced to major therapeutic theories and also on the applications of these theories into practice. The book also details on how, on requirement, different theories can be unified into one counseling way or therapy. Each chapter has a demonstration or case study of a client called Stan. The book also consists of many topics like Psychoanalytic Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Existential Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Behaviour Therapy along with illustrative charts. Extensive reading suggestions at the end of every chapter help the students to develop more interest for more research in different topics. The step by step guidelines of various therapeutic models helps in easy understanding of the relatively complex theories. About Gerald Corey Gerald Corey is a Professor Emeritus of Human Services at the California State University at Fullerton. He completed his doctoral studies in couseling at the University of Southern California. He is a licensed psychologist, a National Certified Counselor, a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, a Diplomate in Counseling Psychology among many other roles as a renowned personality in his field. Gerald has authored and co-authored several books on counseling.
