Eudora Welty was born in Mississippi in 1909, and has has lived there ever since. She is the author of The Bride of the Innisfallen and Other Stores, A Curtain of Green and Other Stories, Delta Wedding, The Golden Apples, The Ponder Heart, The Robber Bridegroom, The Wide Net and Other Stories, and a book for children, The Shoe Bird. In 1955, Miss Welt was awarded the Howells Medal of The American Academy of Arts and Letters.
