Devi Lakshmi also known as Shri is one of the principal goddesses in Hinduism. Maa Laxmi is the goddess of wealth, fortune, power, beauty, fertility and prosperity and associated with Maya. Along with Parvati and Saraswati, she forms the Tridevi of Hindu goddesses. Goddess Lakshmi means Good Luck to Hindus. The word ‘Lakshmi’ is derived from the Sanskrit word “Laksya”, meaning ‘aim’ or ‘goal’. Like the lotus, as the Goddess of Prosperity, Lakshmi shows us how to transcend material wealth for spiritual progress. The lotus is also a symbol for purity, fertility, and beauty. She is often shown with four hands, which are meant to represent the four goals of life.
