Social transformation refers to the process of globalizing forces impact upon both local communities and national societies at large. An analysis of social transformation therefore requires analysis both of macro-social forces and of local traditions, experiences and identities. Social transformation would bring general vision of how society should be organized, desirability of having accountable and transparent policy-making institutions and bureaucracies and strong organizations that can represent and empower the poor in a sustainable manner through the thoughts and practices of social transformation programmes.
