This book analyses the fictional works of three major South Asian women writers – Monica Ali, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni and Taslima Nasrin–originating from the Indian subcontinent. Exploring the psyche of immigrants, the book examines the dilemma of women trapped between their own aspirations as individuals and the forces of culture/ society which limit and confine them. Further, It discusses human relationships, especially the fast-emerging issues of extra-marital, lesbian and surrogate relationships. The book makes a rich contribution to the corpus of diaspora studies, comparative literature, multiculturalism, sociology and women studies.
