Three Men in a Boat is a comic tale of the adventures of three men and a dog by Jerome K. Jerome. Summary of the Book When three men get bored of their monotonous lives, they begin to debate what would be a good escape for a few days. These men are hypochondriacs who have completely convinced themselves that they are overworked and are suffering from some strange illness. They consider several options and decide to go on a boating trip, eliminating the option of adventuring on the vast blue seas. They decide to sail on the Thames, from Kingston to Oxford. Jerome, George and Harris set out on their journey with a fox terrier named Montmorency. What follows is a slapstick series of events, hilarious in all their glory. A camping embargo leads them to discover the troubles of tents and camping stoves, trying to learn to play the bagpipes turns into a hilariously impossible event, and they discover that barometers are darn unreliable when it comes to forecasting the weather!
