Three Men in a Boat, by Jerome K. Jerome, is a comic account of three men's boating holiday on the Thames, between Kingston and Oxford. The book has been adapted into movies and TV shows several times. Summary of the Book Three men decide to go on an uneventful boating holiday, considering that they have been timeworn in life for quite some time. George, Harris, Jerome and Montmorency, a fox terrier, set out on a boating trip up the River Thames, from Kingston to Oxford, during which they plan to camp, in spite of Jerome's admission about prior not-so-good experiences with camps and camping stoves. The amusing turn of events that follows forms the rest of the story. It involves the three friends, their luck and hard luck. The events depict the absurd untrustworthiness of barometers for weather prediction and the problems chanced upon when learning to play the Scottish bagpipe. Soon the three friends realize that their trip is not that ordinary after all. About Jerome K. Jerome Jerome K.
