Thus Spoke Zarathustra is a philosophical novel by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Summary of the Book When he was 30, Zarathustra set forth on a soul searching journey and reached the mountains, where he meditated for ten years. The answers that he found became the foundation of Zoroastrianism. In this novel, Nietzche paints a different Zarathustra, one who plays with the definition of morality. Containing the famous line that God is dead, the novel deals with Nietzche's Gay Science conundrum and further goes to show how Nietzche portrays men as the proverbial Übermensch, the Superman. His magnum opus, the book proposes his theories of Transvaluation of All Values and shows how all reality is based on eternal recurrence of the same events over and over.
