Too Much Happiness is a collection of short stories by Alice Munro. Summary of the Book This is a collection of stories about oppressive men and women who prove to be cleverer than them. You will find stories about bad marriages, diminishing friendships, mothers and sons, and moments that will have an impact in your life. The author, Alice Munro, takes us on a journey full of emotions and events. Her stories will show us the many ways in which we adjust to what happens to us in our lives. The book contains the story of a woman, a wife and mother, who wants to release herself from her pain in the most unexpected place. A victim of humiliation tries to get her life back on track. A woman dying of cancer decides to make up a poisonous story in order to save her life. There are many other stories that talk about the negative aspects in marriages and their consequences. It also comprises of a long title story of a Russian émigré and mathematical genius from the nineteenth century. She goes on a journey that begins with her paying a visit to her lover on the Riviera. Her journey ends in Sweden, where she becomes a professor at the only university that is willing to hire a woman to teach the subject she teaches.
