Summary of the Book Rand al’Thor has finally managed to merge his conscience with that of Lews Therin Telamon, his self from a former life. He goes to meet Egwene al’Vere, the Amyrlin Seat, of his plans to destroy the Seals on the Dark One’s Prison. However, he is met with opposition. He tells them that time is running out, and it is, judging by the decay around them. Meanwhile, al’Lan Mandragoran, the last King of Malkier, rushes to his demise in a suicidal attack on the Blight to try and push back the Shadow. Matrim Cauthon is on a doomed mission of his own. He must journey to the land of the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn to free Moiraine from their clutches. However, meeting the foxes and the snakes the last time nearly cost him his life. This time, there won’t be any coming back. Perrin Aybara has a run in with Galad Damodred, the Lord Captain Commander of the Whitecloaks. He faces blame for killing Morgase, the Queen of Andor, and for killing a Child of the Light. Perrin is innocent, but Galad is the last man who will believe his innocence. And the world trembles at the passing of every second, for the Dark One is slowly extending his touch, covering the world with a demonic pestilence.
