Two Fates: The Story Of My Divorce is the story of a couple, Rishab and Deepika, falling in and out of love, and what happens when their families decide to bring their love story back on track. Summary Of The Book Two Fates: The Story Of My Divorce is the author’s debut novel that features a love story gone sour. The protagonists are Rishab and Deepika. Rishab is a typical IITian with a lucrative career and a dream to become a novelist someday. He is also polite and impulsive. Deepika is his polar opposite in every way. As they say, opposites attract, and the two end up falling in love with each other. They decide to get married and seal their love. Alas, as with any good love story, there is one major deterrent to their plan. Rishab is a Punjabi and Deepika, a Tamilian. They face opposition from their respective families who strongly disapprove of their cross-community union. But in the end, love conquers all. Rishab and Deepika finally tie the knot. Now 4 years have passed, and all is not well in their marriage. Rishab and Deepika are no longer in love, and are headed for divorce. But there’s a not-so-tiny glitch in their breakup plan. Their families are now at peace with each other, and willing to do whatever it takes to keep the couple from splitting up. If getting married was tough, getting divorced is proving twice as hard for the couple. Their families have joined hands to ensure that the couple stays together till death parts them. Both families even go to the extent of living under the same roof. Rishab and Deepika could either succeed in getting a divorce amidst all the meddling from their families, or on the other hand, they could get stuck with each other for life. Whatever the outcome, the plot and the characters are hilarious and entertaining. Two Fates: The Story Of My Divorce was published by Westland in 2011. It borrows its background from Chetan Bhagat’s novel, Two States.
