Robbersis Professor Emeritus of Pharmacognosy at Purdue University and a licensed pharmacist in the state of Washington. His work has been recognized by election to honorary membership in the American Society of Pharmacognosy. Varro E. Tyler is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Pharmacognosy at Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana. In his professional area Dr. Tyler has served as the first president of the American Society of Pharmacognosy as well as president of the American Association of the Colleges of Pharmacy the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education and the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy. He is a fellow of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is an honorary member of the American Society of Pharamacognosy and the Society for Medicinal Plant Research and the Society for Economic Botany named him the Distinguished Economic Botanist of the Year for 1995. Active in community affairs Dr. Tyler has served as president of the Lafayette Home Hospital chairman of the board of North Central Health Services Inc. and a director of the Greater Lafayette Community Foundation.
