Areca Palm As a tropical plant, they do like humidity. During dryer cooler temperatures they should be misted and kept over a small tray of water filled with pebbles so that their roots do not sit in the water. During the spring and summer growing months they should be fertilized every few weeks with just a little bit of plant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Shipping and handling can be very tough on live plants so please be sure to open and check your plant right away. Mist the foliage and check the soil for moisture. Our plant team gives each plant a drink before they are individually shipped and wrapped so they may not need to be watered right away. Overwatering is one of the most common causes of decline with indoor plants. We are unable to ship this plant to California due to restrictions by the California Department of Agriculture. Please be aware that there are no know toxins with the Cat palm and they are a great plant for pets.
