About The Book: The Arabian physicians, in describing the quality or power of medicines, make use of four degrees. The first degree, that whole quality makes imperceptible impression ; such as those that are hot, or those that are cold, &c. but which are not sel, unless they are leiterated. The second degree, is that which is more powerful than the former, but not so much as to occasion any visible injury. The third degree is that whole impression is essentially hurtful, but not so as to Dearloe. The fourth degree, is that whole nature is such that it either kills or materially injures ; and this is the property of poisonous medicines. Gladwin was an able translator with an elegant and precise diction. His translations were accompanied by the original Persian text.
