Ageing is the natural process. In older adults perceptual to cognitive decline is obvious but the intensity and even the effect of perceptual decline on day to day activities is not well described. Unilateral neglect is defined as a failure to attend to the side opposite a brain lesion. Clinically, the presence of severe unilateral neglect is apparent when a patient often collides into his/ her surroundings, ignores food on one side of the plate and attends to only one side of his/ her body. It has a great impact on day to day activities like feeding, reading newspaper, shaving, dressing, etc. Thus the presence of unilateral neglect has been strongly associated with an increased risk for injury and with poor functional outcomes. The effects of USN extend beyond the basic skills for self-care (bathing, dressing, walking, etc.) to instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) that are crucial for successful reintegration into community life. As making person functionally independent is the main role of any occupational therapists, the author has made an attempt to check perceptual decline in different age group of elderly i.e., 60-70 age group & 70- 80 age group. It has been proved scientifically that performance of 70-80 years age group Indian elderly is poor than 60-70 years age group.
