Josh Malihabadi, a famous Urdu poet, was born on 5th December 1898 in Malihabad. Josh Malihabadi’s name is taken among those poets who raised their voice through pen against the British for the independence the country. Every single ‘sher’ written through him turned into a common man’s slogan. That’s why Josh Malihabadi is called Inquilabi poet. Although his name is Shabir Hasan Khan, but in Ghazals and Nazms, Takhlus ‘Josh’ and also added the name of his locality Malihabadi, due to which he came to be called Josh Malihabadi. H did his early studies at home, he learned Urdu and Persian at home. He went to Lucknow for English education and later went to St. Peter’s College, Agra. He spent six months in Rabindranath Tagore University and stayed in Shantiniketan. But after the death of his father Bashir Ahmed Khan, further studies could not continue. Josh started writing poetry with a rebellious attitude in 23-24. Josh is known for his strong hold on Urdu and excellent use of Urdu grammar in Urdu literature. Josh Malihabadi wrote many books. His first collectioncame in 1921 which includes ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’, ‘Junoon O Hikamt’, ‘Fikar O Nishat’. His autobiography ‘Yaadon Ki Baraat’ and nazms ‘Jungle ki Shehzadi’ and ‘Gulbadani’ became very famous in the country and abroad. Josh loved his country so much that he was never happy when he went to Pakistan. He would always remember India, which can be understood from this poem. ‘ Jano farjan ki vo bastagi ne vatan si cheez ko akhirr chudaya Raha me hind ki nazro me Muslim bna kafir ko Pakistan aaya.’
