'Uro Khoi' is not an autobiography of Bimal Kar, but a memoir. Not Sadar, but the light-dark path of the interior, moving forward, is a vast, vast, rich memoir. This story begins in 1931-32. When the author was only nine-ten years old. From there, this book is a continuous reminiscence of about twenty-five years. Although partial, this memoir contains many words, many pictures, events and people, and stories of the social environment which, though past, have not lost their value, but are more valuable because they are past. There is such a beauty and fragrance, which still envelops the mind. What did a typical boy from a middle-class family living in Bihar see in his childhood, what did he feel, and what did he see as he grew up and reached various milestones. This book contains the intimate details of this life. Stories of World War II, political agitation, August movement, sad memories of depression and riots, partition are captured. There are countless moments of joy and sorrow, despair and reassurance. 'Uro Khai' is actually a cartoon. This memoir was finished long before Bimal Kar's fame as a writer was achieved, yet many experiences and elements of the writer Bimal Kar's preparatory phase are scattered here which will not escape the attention of the minded and curious reader. From that point of view, the value of this book is immense.
