"Utkarsh Red Palm Weevil is intended for use as an attractant of Red Palm Weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineous) pest orchards of Coconut, Arecanut, Date palm & Oil palm in order to trap them for monitoring and mass trapping. Product Description: The Active Ingredient blend of 4 Methyl 5 Nonanol – 90 % & 4 Methyl 5 Nonanone – 10 % is a potent aggregation attractant for males and females of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus. This liquid formulation @ 700 mg is loaded in a wood block, which is kept in a sealed polyethylene pouch, which is placed in traps in the field. It is used in combination with a Magnet and feed attractant to maximize catch rates of the pest. Application Protocol:The trap is to be positioned in such a way that it is half buried in the ground to the level of the side entrances OR hung on tree stems at a height of 1-1.5m. Traps should ideally be placed in shaded areas. Recommended to use one one lure per trap & would last upto 3 months depending upon climatic conditions. The trapping density should be adequate to manage pest infestation. The recommended trap density is 5-10 traps/hectare for mass trap & 1-2 traps for monitoring. Storage and Disposal precautions: Store the dispenser away from sunlight in a dry and cool place. Do not open the pouch until just before placing it in the trap lure holder. The product expiry date is 2 years from the production date under good storage conditions and without opening the sealed pouch. Palm traps are extremely useful in monitoring & controlling Red palm weevil & Rhino Beetle that are a big menace to Coconut, Oil Palm, Date Palm & Areca Nut plantations. Packing: The lure is packed in a metalized triple-layer pouch. The Active Ingredient Ethyl acetate is packed @20 ml per bottle (RPW Magnet), which is a potent feed attractant (Kairomone) for males and females of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, and placed in traps in the field. It is used in combination with aggregation pheromone to maximize catch rates of the pest. Do not open this bottle or do not make any hole at all while using it with the lure. It is used without opening the cap."
