In Hindu mythology, Kartikeya (also known as Murugan, Skanda, or Subramanya) is a prominent deity who is primarily worshipped as the god of war, victory, and wisdom. Kartikeya is often depicted in various forms and legends. Kartikeya is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. His birth was a result of the union between Shiva's seed (bija) and the flames of Goddess Agni, which were received by Goddess Ganga and transferred to the Ganges River, where he was raised by the six Krittikas (stars of Pleiades).
