Saraswati is a principal Hindu goddess representing knowledge, wisdom, arts, music, language, and culture, originally a river goddess who evolved into the goddess of learning. Often depicted with a vina (musical instrument) and seated on a lotus, she is the patron of arts and sciences, considered the inventor of the Sanskrit language, and the wife of Lord Brahma, one of the principal Hindu deities. She is also one of the Tridevi, a trinity of principal goddesses, alongside Lakshmi and Parvati.
