Fuser Film Sleeve is the tube that is made of different materials to replace the metal upper fuser roller in the fuser assembly of laser printers. Fuser Film Sleeve was introduced in the early 1990’s for LaserJet printers.In order to increase the printing speed and reduce the weight and size of laser printers, the new heat source of ceramic heating element replaced the old fashioned heating lamp.Meanwhile, thin and light fuser film sleeves replaced heavy metal upper fuser rollers in order to increase the efficiency of heat transfer from the heat source to paper. At the beginning, the sleeve was made of resin-based polymers and coated with Teflon. The printing speed started from only 4 ppm for HP LaserJet 4L/5L printers. Up until today, the speed of HP LaserJet Enterprise M600 Printer has reached 62 ppm. As the speed of laser printer increases, the fuser film sleeve evolved through several generations from polymer-based Teflon-coated sleeves to metal-based Teflon-coated sleeves to metal-based rubber-coated sleeves.
