An aging don gets involved in an act of violence and destruction which he had never foreseen. In difficult times, it is rightly said that, a man can put his thoughts through like clear water. Summary of the book Imran Jabbari, an aging don along with his friends forms a gang called 51/2 men in the mohalla, Vanity Bagh. The gang is given the job of dispatching stolen scooters to various parts of the city. Only later do they realise, that they were responsible for planting scooter bombs which rocked the city. Imran is arrested for being one of the prime accused in the 11/11 serial bombing. In captivity, he plans his escape to kill time after which he is assigned the job of bookmaking which inspires him to pen down his thoughts about Vanity Bagh. Through this exercise, Imran traces the History of bad blood between Vanity Bagh, nicknamed Little Pakistan and Mehendi, a Hindu neighbourhood. Imran’s tales are smeared with violence and communal violence along with a pensive small town touch to them. A perfect read for those who love dark humour is the Vanity Bagh.  About the Author Anees Salim is an Indian author.
